Kapiti Startup weekend is attracting big tech names this year, now in its fourth year, the weekend tech event encourages participants to collaborate, build products and launch startups.
As part of NZ Techweek, a nationwide tech innovation programme, Kapiti Startup Weekend has been selected as a programme highlight event.
“The aim of the Kapiti Startup weekend is to inspire anyone to take entrepreneurial action in their life. Startup Weekends are specifically designed for entrepreneurs interested in receiving feedback on an idea, looking for a co-founder, or who want to learn a new skill. The aim is for developers, designers, marketers, product managers and startup enthusiasts to come together to share ideas, form teams, build products, and launch startups,” says Kapiti Startup Weekend organiser Ross Allen.
Kapiti Startup Weekend will feature judges Andy Prow, CEO and Co-Founder of RedShield Security, Nick Harley, Director of Marketing at Raygun, and Poppy Norton, CEO of Collaborate and has attracted support from local companies Nowsnapp, iwantmyname.com, Leverage, and Spectro.
Nick Harley, Director of Marketing at the award-winning application monitoring company, Raygun says events like Kapiti Startup Weekend are important for the tech community and anyone considering starting a business. Founded in 2007 and headquartered in Wellington, Raygun services clients such as Coca-Cola, Domino's Pizza, Microsoft and Samsung. Raygun generates 90% of its product revenue from exports.
“Startup weekend gives people the connections, skills and experience they need to start a company of their own. To build a company, you can’t do it alone, you need a team, resilience, and to be able to rapidly test and execute ideas. Kapiti startup weekend encourages all these elements and more,” says Nick Harley, Director of Marketing at Raygun.
